Eye of tomorrow

"I want to own a very big house", Kemi said with her thin arms throws wide open to emphasize on the exaggeration, "the biggest that this village has ever seen". They sat in their usual relaxation spot, under the big mango tree, which they had grown quite fond of because it had been a source of mid day snack, sport and relaxation for them.
How the six of them got to be is nothing much of a story; Tola and Tolu both 8 years old, are inseparable twins, so it would be decent enough to say whatever group they would be, they would be in it together. Sola who claims to be the leader of the pack because she happens to be the eldest at 9½ years as she would argue, although Bimpe always disagree with that since she is just 2 months behind Sola, coupled with the fact that she carries the first born crown in her family and acts as an elder sister to Kemi who happens to be the smallest of the group at 5 years. Christiana was not much of a talker more of the person that has to break the tie when argument erupts between Bimpe and Sola. They had grown up together roam the streets together, played together, settle petty girl fights.
Every evening after school and house chores, they gather underneath the mango tree for girl time, which consist of gossips from school, from their individual families or sometimes of the village at large on days when they want to go large, but today the topic of the evening was future ambitions. One by one they pour out their heart desires on what they want the future to hold for them. Dreams were begotten, bigger dreams were created. Silence fell upon the group as the realization of life began to hit each one of them.
"Christy!!!" the silence was broken by Christiana's mother fierce voice. "Ma!, am coming" Christiana answered, struggling into her slippers as she waves goodbye to the rest of the gang and hurries away. Shortly after Christiana left, the group disbanded, saying their good nights as they make their way to their houses. The silence was still there, there was no singing or dancing this night, this night was different.
