That is the conclusion of a poll carried out to find the country’s most content people.

According to the findings, the happiest man is likely to be a 60-year-old married teacher named Steve, living close to Edinburgh.

The study, carried out by Cadbury Heroes, also claimed that he is likely to have grey hair, blue eyes, wear glasses and love spending time with his family and friends.

Women named Tina and Rebecca and men named Gary and Chris were more linked to doom and gloom, while people called Tom, Wendy and Mary joined Steve in the happy category.

The lighter someone's hair was, the happier they were found to be, and the most joyful Britons were also more likely to have blue eyes and wear glasses.
