On being a writer
Being a writer is not as easy as everyone think it is and it's definitely not as easy as what established writers make it seem. You might think its just about putting pen to paper, or in this case starting a blank new document of Microsoft word and putting down what ever comes to mind, but if writers were to do this all that would be put down would be utter gibberish that would make anyone reading the article feel a little concern for the author with the hope he or she is getting the uttermost care he needs-mental wise.
while i can't proudly call myself a writer (yes, i know i have shamed the writing community and most especially those of you who take time to read this dilapidated blog...again, i'm sorry), i must confess i often times feel a fraction of the pressure established writers go through, the deadline, the constant mental tugging to come up with something new, to be more creative and innovative with each new article, trying so hard to make sure the article is perfect or at least near perfect enough to captivate the audience and earn a few nods from colleagues. The pressure can be mind crushing, soul crushing and exhausting.
The mind of a writer is always tracking down new things and new ideas non-sop. Always on the edge for the new big thing. Mind you, when i say writers, i mean those who have devoted their a part the whole of their life and passion to maintaining the culture of intellectual words in whatever form they deem fit (be it prose, poem, playwrights, comedy, comics, political views or lifestyle) or other original writers who do not fit into a specific genre but like liquid they change according to their content (these are my favourite). i get stunned each time i pick up an article that is more than a page long, i am always flabergasted by the fact that one person really sat down and put together words long enough to fill two or three pages (to me novelist are another breed of people).
i aspire to be one of the established writers who can settle down and put together a two page article or even a captivating novel (yeah i like to dream big), but till that happens you guys will still have to put up with my on and off two or three-paragraphed articles ...(or should i call them articlet)
