The Teen Pack
The other day I had the rare opportunity to observe teenagers in their natural habitat, and by natural habitat I mean any nook and cranny, so long as they are in packs. Within few minutes i was able to observe each member of the pack and their individual role.
In an instant i identified the "queen bee", she is the spotlight of the pack, every other member is instinctively drawn to her, throwing jokes, food and other things her way to appease her and draw her attention to themselves. Fully aware of this fact, the queen bee has put herself in an high pedestal from which she looks down on her subjects with a high lofty look.
Right beside the "queen bee" is the .......(i will find a title for him later), he is seen as the male counterpart of the queen but does not exact as much power as she does. Things between him and the queen are a little complicated but he can sure pride himself that in the pack he is ahead of others by more than mile and he gladly struts priding himself to be recognized in the pack.
Next is the jester, he is the life and fun of the pack. Little is known about him but a lot is expected from him. He is usually found close to the queen whispering and throwing amusements her way. Although he is seldom taken seriously, he is not bothered so long as he is recognized as an active pack member.
Then there is the girl in the green sweater with her hands wrapped around her waist, her timid nature and aura of low self esteem can be palpated from a mile away but despite her timid nature, one could easily deduct that she has a concocted feeling of envy and admiration towards the queen. She tries all in her power to be close to the queen and have conversations crammed with forced laughs. Her eyes darts forwards and backwards scanning passers-by for purposes best known to her.
Sited in the corner is the brooder, although not part of the pack and the thought of being counted as part of this irritating crowd is loathing. She sits in the corner with her expressionless face seemingly brooding over dozens of things.
The last but not least is the pretty girl non-pack member who occasionally breezes in and out. She smiles, laughs and interacts with all the members of the pack the same way, she seems oblivious to the silent protest of the queen evident by her watchful eyes following her every step of the way as she turns around and struts away pulling all eyes in her direction.
